National Security Council decides to give maximum security to candidates

The National Security Council headed by President Maithripala Sirisena today (15) decided to provide maximum security to all the candidates who will be contesting the upcoming Presidential election.

Accordingly, the President instructed the security chiefs to take relevant measures to provide security as per requests by the candidates.

The Presidential election will be held on November 16 and 35 candidates have handed over nominations to contest the election.

United National Front’s Sajith Premadasa and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Gotabaya Rajapaksa are the two main candidates contesting this election.
