Norway warns Sri Lanka against implementing death penalty

Norway is deeply concerned that Sri Lanka intends to implement the death penalty, which would put an end to Sri Lanka?s 43-year moratorium on the use of this cruel and irreversible punishment. Court orders to allow all communities at Dankotuwa market

The Marawila Magistrate today ordered that all communities must be allowed to conduct trading at the Dankotuwa weekly market. The Magistrate reversed a decision taken to ban Muslim traders at the Dankotuwa weekly market. The Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha had earlier banned Muslim traders from trading at the Dankotuwa weekly market. Sri Lanka signs deal to expedite death compensation cases

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, has entered into a contract with a law firm in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to initiate and prosecute death compensation cases of the dependents of Sri Lankan nationals whose death had occurred as a result of third party negligence and for the prosecution of claims of blood money arising from murder cases.
