The formal announcement by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) on its stand with regards to the Presidential election is expected to be announced tomorrow.
SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera said that the SLFP position will definitely be announced tomorrow.
The announcement was to be made on Sunday but it was postponed for yesterday (Monday).
However no announcement was made even yesterday.
Earlier the SLFP Central Committee (CC) had decided to give President Maithripala Sirisena the full authority to decide on the stand the party must take at the Presidential election.
The SLFP CC met late on Saturday to decide if it will support Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa or contest separately.
However, as accepting of nominations closed yesterday it was clear the SLFP was not going to contest as it did not put forward a candidate.
