Four Sri Lankans arrested in UK over links to banned group

Counter terror police in the UK have arrested four Sri Lankans on suspicion of being members of a banned organisation.

The Sri Lankan nationals were arrested after arriving at Luton Airport on Saturday and Sunday, the BBC reported today.

The Metropolitan Police said the group were stopped under the Terrorism Act 2000 and arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

The investigation is being led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

A 39-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 41-year-old man remain in custody at a south London police station.

A 35-year-old woman has been bailed to a date in early November, pending further inquiries.

Membership of a proscribed organisation is contrary to section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Probe underway over foreign drone found in Sri Lankan waters

An investigation is underway over the discovery of a foreign drone in Sri Lankan waters. The drone was discovered at sea in Trincomalee by fishermen and was brought ashore. The fishermen said that the drone was handed over to the Air Force. Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Media Spokesman, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage said that the drone was a foreign drone usually used in training operations. It is believed that the drone may have drifted into Sri Lankan waters. (Colombo Gazette)

Police probe attempt to conceal evidence over Hatton bus tragedy

UPDATE: The Police are investigating an attempt to conceal evidence linked to the deadly accident in Hatton in which three people were killed and over 40 others sustained injuries.
