Court orders financial statements, phone records of IGP and Hemasiri

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Courts today ordered relevant institutions to hand-over financial statements and telephone records of the IGP Pujith Jayasundara and the former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to CID to support further investigations.

Twelve Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions filed against IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando over the Easter Sunday terror attacks were taken up before Supreme Court yesterday (2) by a seven-judge bench chaired by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya consists of Justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira de Abrew, Priyantha Jayewardene, Prasanna Jayewardene, L.T.B. Dehideniya and Murdu Fernando.

Daily Covid death toll crosses the 100 mark

The daily coronavirus death toll crossed the 100 mark with 111 deaths being confirmed on Sunday, the Health Ministry said today. The latest victims include 90 people above the age of 60, the Health Ministry said. The Health Ministry said that the latest victims includes 56 males and 55 females.
