United National Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa today dismissed claims that he had agreed to a set of conditions to be nominated as the Presidential candidate.
Responding to questions posed by journalists at a media conference today, Premadasa insisted that he is sticking to his policies.
He said that he had never agreed to any preconditions to be nominated as the United National Front Presidential candidate but only asserted his policies.
UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told reporters on Thursday that Premadasa had agreed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will remain as Prime Minister and party leader.
However Kariyawasam also noted that there were no conditions put forward to nominate Premadasa as the Presidential candidate.
When asked to respond to the comments made by Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Premadasa avoided responding saying the focus of the upcoming election is about electing a President.
