Ranil to continue as PM in a UNF Government

Current Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe will continue as Prime Minister in a United National Front Government.

United National Party General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that Wickremesinghe will also remain as the part leader.

Kariyawasam said that while a decision was taken to name United National Party Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa as the United National Front Presidential candidate at the upcoming elections, a decision has been taken that Wickremesinghe will be the Prime Minister.

He said that the UNP will hold its party convention on October 3rd and begin its election campaign at Galle Face on 10 October.

Kariyawasam said that there were no conditions put forward to nominate Premadasa as the Presidential candidate. (Colombo Gazette)

TNA calls for Lohan’s head for allegedly threatening to kill prisoners

The United Nations (UN) office in Sri Lanka says it condemns any ill treatment of prisoners.
