United National Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa says he will ensure the implementation of the 2015 mandate on the Executive Presidency.
He told reporters after being declared the Presidential candidate of the United National Front that he will be contesting under a new symbol and not the elephant as he is contesting on behalf of the United National Front.
Premadasa is to contest the election under the ‘swan’ symbol with the United National Front.
He dismissed fears that UNP supporters will be disappointed the elephant symbol is not being used at the election.
Premadasa said that the 2015 mandate given to the Government elected at the time will be taken forward.
He said that devolution of powers will be considered by a Government led by him and the unitary state of the country will be protected.
Premadasa also insisted that he will not sign any deals with any political party or group to obtain their support for the election. (Colombo Gazette)
