Six including Kanjipani Imran?s father and brother further remanded

Six suspects including the father and brother of notorious underworld figure Kanjipani Imran have been ordered to be further remanded until 9 October.

The six suspects were arrested over an alleged attempt to smuggle two mobile phones and two phone chargers concealed in a lunch box at the Boossa Prison.

The six suspects had attempted to smuggle the two mobile phones and two phone chargers to Kanjipani Imran who is being detained at the Boossa Prison.

They had visited Kanjipani Imran at the Boossa Prison and attempted to smuggle the items inside when they were arrested.

Walapane SLFP Organiser sentenced to 12 years in jail

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Walapane organiser, Jagath Kumara Samarahewa, was today sentenced to 12 years in jail for misusing?state vehicles in 2014 and having in his possession an illegal firearm. The former Chairman of the Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha was sentenced to jail by the?Nuwara Eliya High Court. Jagath Kumara Samarahewa was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 11.5 million.
