Court orders arrest of former Director General of Sri Lanka Customs

The Colombo Fort Magistrate?s Court today ordered the arrest of former Director General of Sri Lanka Customs Jagath P. Wijeweera and its former Additional Director General Tharaka Seneviratne.

Wijeweera and Seneviratne have been accused of releasing 8 kilograms of confiscated gold from the custody of the Customs Department.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake ordered Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) to arrest and produce them before the court.

Van detained, more suspects taken into custody

A suspicious van has been detained and more suspects taken into custody over the Easter Sunday bombings. The Police said that the van, bearing number SG PH – 3779 was seized in Warakapola. Earlier the Police had arrested eighteen suspects and seized walkie-talkies and vehicles in an operation carried out last night linked to the Easter Sunday bombings.
