Sajith says he respects party and party leader

United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader and Presidential hopeful Sajith Premadasa says he respects the party leadership and the party.

Speaking at an event today held with the participation of several UNP local council members, Premadasa said that there were several claims made over meetings he had with President Maithripala Sirisena during the political crisis last year.

However, he said that the only focus of his discussion with the President was to ensure Ranil Wickremesinghe remained as Prime Minister.

Premadasa denied claims that he had a secret deal with the President at the time.
