Heated exchange between Pakistani, Indian delegates in Colombo

A heated exchange of words had reportedly broken out between delegates from Pakistan and India at an event held in Colombo today.

The heated exchange of words was over the Kashmir issue, reports said.

A delegation from Pakistan had questioned the Indian delegation on the decision by India to revoke Kashmir?s special status nullifying autonomy granted to the state.

However the Indian delegation had asserted that it was an internal matter.

The session had to be temporarily suspended as a result of the tense situation.

The Parliament of Sri Lanka together with the United Nations Children?s Fund (UNICEF) is hosting parliamentarians from across South Asia to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Police raid party in Pannipitiya and arrest 77 youths

The Police raided a party in Pannipitiya this evening (Sunday) and arrested 77 youths, the Police media unit said. The Police said that narcotics had been seized at the party organised via Facebook. Among those arrested were 17 females, the Police media unit said. The Police said that ganja and synthetic drug pills had been distributed at the party. Further investigations are underway.
