Mahendran’s extradition request given to relevant Ministries

The Attorney General has handed over the extradition request for former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran to the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Ministry, the Attorney General’s office said.

According to an official at the Attorney General’s office the extradition request was handed over in order for it to be submitted to the Singapore Government.

In June this year the Attorney General filed indictments against Arjuna Mahendran and nine others before the Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar over the Central Bank treasury bond scam.

Later in August the Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar summoned the accused to appear before the court on July 19.

The Permanent High Court issued a warrant for the arrest of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Mahendran over the Central Bank bond scam.
