Court issues order against protests in Hultsdorf area

The Colombo Magistrate (Hultsdorf?Magistrate’s?Court) today issued an order preventing protests from being staged in the Hultsdorf Court jurisdiction until the 10th of September.

The order was issued on the Ven. Madille Panyaloka Thero, the convenor of the ‘Sinhala Jathika Balamuluwa’ movement, the Ven.Ittekande Saddatissa Thera, the convenor of the Ravana Balaya movement.

it was reported that some groups were preparing to stage a protest in the Bambalapitiya area during an international Dawoodi Bohra event currently underway.

An estimated 25,000 adherents from around the world have been meeting in Colombo since Saturday for a 10-day religious event culminating with Ashura.

It is one of the holiest days in Shiite Islam and commemorates the 7th century martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed?s grandson.
