Special Court sets date to hear case on Gota

The Special High Court today set the date to hear the case against former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and six others over alleged misappropriation of state funds when constructing the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum.

The Permanent High Court at Bar decided to hear the case on a daily basis from the 15th of October.

In March this year, Rajapaksa filed a Writ Certiorari challenging an order made by the Permanent High Court which rejected preliminary objections raised by his lawyers in the D.A. Rajapaksa case.

Lawyers for the former Defence Secretary also filed a separate revision application at the CA, seeking to overturn the same order by the Permanent High Court.

However, both cases were dismissed citing a lack of jurisdiction.

Health Minister gags hospital officials from speaking to media

Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has issued instructions preventing officials who are part of the administration of Government hospitals from speaking to the media. Health Ministry launches separate probe on Kurunegala doctor
