TNA dismayed by appointment made by President

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) said it was deeply dismayed by President Maithipala Sirisena’s decision to appoint Maj. Gen. Shavendra Silva as the new Army Commander.

TNA spokesman M.A. Sumanthiran said that the appointment of Shavendra Silva, an individual who stands accused of grave crimes, as Army Commander, is a serious affront to the Tamil People.

“We are deeply dismayed by this appointment,” Sumanthiran said.

Silva was the Chief of Staff, Colonel of the Regiment, Gajaba Regiment and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment at the time he was appointed as the new Commander of the Army. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The country needs such people at the “HELM” to bring us (The Nation) out of the “RUT” we are in. Major General Shavendra Silva as the new Commander of the Army, will be a very good “Team Member” in the New Government which should be headed by Presidentaial Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. We “DO NOT NEED” the US to dominate us and it is time-up that we should begin to learn to “STAND ON POUR OWN FOOTING” on all matters, including Military matters. The majority Sinhala nation (Voters) should understand this and should “TRUST” the Muslims, Tamils and the other minority groups as the “FAMILY OF SRI LANKA” to look to a brighter future for Sri Lanka, Insha Allah.

    • I came to the comment section to write the very same and here you have done it on my behalf. Thank you so much for writing this.

  2. Sumanthiran and TNA are cuddling bed fellows with Alaina Telpitz, Michelle Bachelet and Yasmin Sooka.
    Nothing new.
This is typical bullying of a third world country to protect the dastardly acts of the first world.
