Three killed in Ambalangoda accident

Three people were killed and three others sustained injuries following an accident involving a three-wheel and a bus in Ambalangoda today. The Police said that a passenger bus had crashed into a three-wheeler in Urawatta, Ambalangoda killing three people. All three killed were women and were said to be a mother and her two daughters. The other three have been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Minister seeks report on suspicious Chinese power deal

Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has sought a report on a suspicious electricity deal involving China. The Minister has instructed his secretary to submit a report on a tender offered to a Chinese consortium to construct the 300MW Kerawalapitiya LNG power plant. The tender had been offered to GCL China WindForce and RenewGen despite a lower bid being offered by another company.

Court issues order against Swiss Embassy employee

A court order has been issued preventing the Swiss Embassy employee involved in an alleged kidnapping incident, from leaving the country till 9 December. In addition, the Colombo Magistrate court today (3) also ordered that the Swiss Embassy employees, who is a Sri Lankan national, also provide a statement to the authorities regarding the incident by 9 December.
