President in Cambodia on state visit

President Maithripala Sirisena began a four-day state visit to Cambodia today (7) with the aim of further strengthening the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

Upon arrival at the Phnom Penh International Airport, President Sirisena was warmly welcomed by Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace and Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information and Minister-in-attendance.

During his stay President Sirisena will have a royal audience with?Norodom Sihamoni,?the King of Cambodia.

He will also attend a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The two countries which are deeply connected through Buddhism will pay special attention to expand mutual cooperation in economic, trade, tourism sectors.

The Sri Lankan President and the Cambodian Prime Minister will also witness the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements.

President Sirisena will also attend the inauguration of the Business Forum organized by the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce.

Government assures precautions taken to prevent virus entering Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan Government today assured that precautions have been taken to detect tourists visiting the country who may have been infected with a fast spreading virus in China. Speaker insists copies of Ranjan’s telephone recordings not received
