UNP fails to agree on constitution for new alliance

The United National Party (UNP) today failed to agree on the constitution for its new alliance.

The UNP Working Committee met at Temple Trees today and discussed details related to the proposed alliance.

UNP MP Dr. Harsha de Silva tweeted saying the party unanimously agreed to build the new alliance.

“But we did not have agreement on its proposed constitution,” he said.

Among the concerns raised was on the proposed General Secretary of the new alliance and the address of the alliance.

Dr. Harsha de Silva said that they decided to reconvene after the leaders of the constituent parties agree on the amendments to the constitution of the alliance.

He also said that there was no agreement yet on the date to launch the new alliance. (Colombo Gazette)
