High Court rejects preliminary objections by IGP and Hemasiri

The Colombo High Court has rejected preliminary objections presented by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and?former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando over the revision application filed by the Attorney General.

The Attorney General had filed a revision application requesting the Colombo High Court to issue an interim order against the granting of bail by the Colombo Magistrate?s Court to Fernando and Jayasundara.

Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested for failing to prevent the terror attacks on Easter Sunday but were granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate?s Court.

The Attorney General filed a revision application against the granting of bail but lawyers appearing for Fernando and Jayasundara filed objections in court, which was rejected today.
