PM rejects accusations made by Ranjan in video

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has rejected allegations made by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake in a video he had posted on social media.

Ramanayake had made allegations against monks attached to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Temple.

The Prime Minister said that he rejects the allegations and has ordered a committee appointed by him to look into the video.

The committee is already making inquiries over statements made by Ramanayake against the Buddhist clergy.

Ramanayake had accused some clergy of being involved in abusing young monks and boys.

IGP Pujith Jayasundara arrested for threatening lift operator

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has been arrested for threatening a lift operator. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for threatening the lift operator at the Police Headquarters in 2017. The IGP was later released on bail.
