Police deny LTTE infiltration claims

The police today denied reports that some 150 LTTE cadres have infiltrated the north and east from Tamil Nadu. When contacted by the?Colombo Gazette, police spokesman S.P Ajith Rohana said that the police did not have any information of such infiltration and felt the report was a ?bogus? news item. Chidambaram rubbishes Lankan report

The Indian Centre termed as “completely baseless” a newspaper report about existence of LTTE camps in Tamil Nadu, saying there was no such facility anywhere in the country. “It is completely baseless. There is no LTTE camp anywhere in India, including Tamil Nadu,” Home Minister P Chidambaram said. Croc attack in Akuressa

A crocodile attack was reported in Akuressa this morning, the police media unit said. The police said that an 18 year old girl who had gone to wash her face in the Nilwala river was dragged away by the crocodile. Following a search operation launched by the police together with the assistance of people in the area, the body of the victim was found. Police investigations are underway.
