A former Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Parliamentarian and a former SLMC General Secretary have extended support to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Former SLMC Parliamentarian Basheer Segu Da-wood and former SLMC General Secretary Hasan Ali extended support to Rajapaksa today. They extended support via the United Peace Alliance in which Basheer Segu Da-wood is the chairman and Hasan Ali the General Secretary.

No major incidents reported during postal voting

No major incidents were reported during postal voting for the 16 November Presidential election today, local election monitors said. Postal voting took place today and will take place again tomorrow and on 4,5 and 7th November at 7900 centres around the country. Talks among Tamil parties on polls ends in stalemate

Talks held today among five Tamil political parties, including members of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), with regards to the Presidential election ended in stalemate.
