Supreme Court confirms death sentence on Vass Gunawardena and son

The Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence imposed on former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Vass Gunawardena and his son Ravindu Gunawardena over the murder of businessman Mohammed Siyam in 2013. Bambalapitiya-based businessman Mohamed Siyam was abducted and murdered in the Dompe area. The International Cricket Council (ICC) have confirmed that Praveen Jayawickrama has been charged with three counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Jayawickrama allegedly failed to report to the Anti-Corruption Unit, without delay, that he was approached to carry out fixing during International matches and in the 2021 Lanka Premier League. UK issues travel warning on Sri Lanka following visa issue

The United Kingdom (UK) has issued a “travel warning” on Sri Lanka following an update to the visa requirements. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) said there had been an update to the visa application process.
