New Jaffna Army Commander and Governor hold talks

The new Security Forces Commander of the Jaffna District, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya and the Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan held talks today.

Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya?called on Governor of Northern Province at his official residence today, the Northern Province Governor?s Media Unit said.

Wanigasooriya assumed office as the Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna on Monday (15) during a simple ceremony at the Security Force Headquarters in Jaffna amid religious observances and military formalities.

He succeeds Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi who retires from the Army to take up a new appointment in the Ministry of Defence shortly.

Major General Wanigasooriya was greeted to a Guard Turn Out at the main entrance after he was received by the Brigadier Administration and Quartering of the SFHQ-J.

Major General Wanigasooriya formerly served as the General Officer Commanding 59 Division, prior to this appointment.

Minister proposes military training for youth
