Former Defence Secretary grilled by CID for nine hours

Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando has been questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for nine hours on the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Police said that Hemasiri Fernando had been questioned yesterday (Monday) by CID officers.

Hemasiri Fernando was the Defence Secretary when the Easter Sunday attacks were carried out.

It had been revealed earlier that Fernando was alerted over the possibility of an attack taking place on Easter Sunday but he had not acted on the intelligence report.
