SLPP suspects hidden agenda behind no-confidence motion

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) suspects there was a hidden agenda behind the move by the Jantha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) to present a no-confidence motion against the Government in Parliament.

SLPP Parliamentarian Shehan Semasinghe said that the JVP did not make any effort to obtain the support of the Tamil National Alliance or the Catholic Government Parliamentarians for the motion.

The no-confidence motion was defeated in Parliament yesterday with the TNA voting against it while the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Joint Opposition supported the motion.

The motion accused the Government of failing to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks from taking place.
