Over 25 investigations are underway related to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa or his family members, Foreign Minister?Mangala Samaraweera told Parliament today. Second reading of 2016 budget passed in Parliament

The second reading of the 2016 budget was passed in Parliament today with 159 members voting for and 52 against it while 13 members were absent. There were cheers in Parliament from the Government benches when it was found that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was among those absent during the vote. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) voted against the budget while the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) voted for it. The final vote on the budget will be taken on December?19. (Colombo Gazette)

Putin expects ties with Sri Lanka to develop
