Navy rescues stranded passengers of ferry at sea

The Navy rescued a group of passengers on a ferry which was stranded at sea while operating between Karappan and Analativu in Jaffna last night (05th July), the Navy media unit said today.

The passenger ferry experienced a breakdown, 1.5 nautical miles off Karappan.

The Navy was informed of the incident and an Inshore Patrol Craft and a dingy attached to the Northern Naval Command were deployed to offer assistance.

The Navy rescued eight passengers, the ferry owner and its assistant.
