SLFP and SLPP agree on name for new alliance

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) have decided on a name for the new alliance they hope to form.

SLFP Parliamentarian and United People’s Freedom Alliance General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera said that they agreed on the name ?Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Peramuna? for the proposed alliance.

However both sides have not yet agreed on forming the alliance and if they will contest as an alliance at the next election.

Amaraweera said that there was also no agreement on who the Presidential candidate will be if they contest the next Presidential election as an alliance.

Colombo courtroom assassin arrested

The assassin who carried out a deadly shooting inside a courtroom in Colombo was arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) while he was fleeing in a van.
