Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been remanded over the Central Bank treasury bond scam. He was remanded for the loss of Rs. 36.89 billion loss incurred by the Government as a result of the bond scam. Karunanayake, former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and Perpetual Treasuries Limited beneficiary owner Arjun Aloysius are among those accused in the case. Ultimatum issued to plantation companies on Rs. 1,000 daily wage

The Government today warned it will not hesitate to take appropriate measures if the plantation companies continue to reject the Rs. 1,000 daily wage for estate workers. Cabinet co-spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said that if the plantation companies refuse to budge then the Government will respond in the same manner.
