NP Governor to crack whip on protests during office hours

Northern Province Governor Dr. Suren Rāghavan has warned that he will take action on Government officials employed under the administration of the Northern Province who hold demonstrations during office hours.

The Governor’s office said that the Governor had ordered an investigation into an issue involving the Northern Provincial Agriculture Department.

The Governor had directed the Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture to inquire into the incident and submit a report.

The Governor has received the investigation report and has decided to take action against those who have been named in the report.

“The Governor has condemned the attack on a minority female officer and said he has decided steps must be taken to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the Northern Province,” the Governor’s office said.

He has also said that no one can exert pressure on him by staging protests and demonstrations.

The Governor said that it was unacceptable for government officials to hold such protests during the time of service to the public. (Colombo Gazette)
