Sri Lanka to receive 500,000 AstraZeneca Covishield vaccines

Sri Lanka is to receive 500,000 AstraZeneca Covishield vaccines from India, the Cabinet was informed. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa informed the Cabinet that the vaccines will arrive in Sri Lanka on Thursday (28th). The Cabinet expressed its appreciation to the Government of India for the grant. Colombo continues to be a hot-spot with 480 new infections

The Colombo District continues to be a coronavirus hot-spot with 480 new infections being reported. Officials said that 843 new infections were reported around the country, over the 24-hour period ending at 6am today. Of the 843 new infections the highest number of people detected with the coronavirus was from the Colombo District.
