Tsunami warning lifted in Sri Lanka

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau says the tsunami warning issued for Sri Lanka has been lifted. The warning was in place for some four hours since the first undersea earthquake occurred in Sumatra this afternoon resulting in the tremors being felt in Sri Lanka. India assures Lanka on nuclear plant

The chief of India’s nuclear energy program, Dr Srikumar Banerjee, has said that Sri Lanka’s fears over the nuclear plant in Kudankulam are unfounded. Mr Banerjee has also asserted that the plant, located in Tamil Nadu, has one of the world’s safest reactors. “There should be no concerns on safety. The safety analysis of the plant is complete.
