Eight injured as bus overturns

Eight people were injured when a passenger bus overturned in Omanthai, Vavuniya this morning, the police media unit said. The police said that 30 passengers were in the bus at the time of the accident and it was heading to Jaffna. According to the police the private bus had veered off the road and overturned injuring the eight passengers. Of those injured were seven men and a woman. Sri Lanka is to launch a fresh investigation into the massacre of 17 aid workers of a French Non Government Organization (NGO) during the war in 2006, a government official said on Tuesday. Controversy following order by PM

The government has ordered the removal of a mosque from an area it says is sacred to the country’s majority Buddhists.
