Acting IGP instructs CID to probe cops over Easter attacks

The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana Wickramaratne has directed the Criminal Investigations Department and the Special Investigations Unit to conduct investigations into nine police officers, as directed earlier by the Attorney General.

The Attorney General had yesterday directed the acting IGP to conduct the probe over lapses on the part of the Police officers with regards to the Easter Sunday attacks.

The AG has called for criminal investigations to be conducted on the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Colombo), Deputy Inspector General of Police (Western North), Deputy Inspector General of Police (SPR), Senior Superintendent of Police (Negombo), Superintendent of Police (Colombo North), Assistant Superintendent of Police (Negombo III), Assistant Superintendent of Police (Negombo IV), Officer in Charge of the Katana Police Station and Officer in Charge of the Jampettah Police Post.
