Criminal probe on cops over Easter Sunday attacks

A criminal investigation is to be conducted on nine Police officers over the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Attorney General (AG) has directed acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana Wickramaratne to conduct the probe over lapses on the part of the Police officers with regards to the Easter Sunday attacks.

The AG has called for criminal investigations to be conducted on the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Colombo), Deputy Inspector General of Police (Western North), Deputy Inspector General of Police (SPR), Senior Superintendent of Police (Negombo), Superintendent of Police (Colombo North), Assistant Superintendent of Police (Negombo III), Assistant Superintendent of Police (Negombo IV), Officer in Charge of the Katana Police Station and Officer in Charge of the Jampettah Police Post.

Curfew to continue in Colombo and Gampaha

The curfew currently in force in the Colombo and Gampaha districts will continue until further notice, the President’s Media Division said today. The President’s Media Division said that the curfew in other parts of the country will be enforced at 8pm daily till 5am the next day. However, on Sunday 17 May an islandwide curfew will be declared. The curfew will be lifted on 18 May at 5am in all areas, except in the Colombo and Gampaha districts. (Colombo Gazette)
