The Police today took an unusual step of announcing the ethnicity of several suspects arrested following the Easter Sunday attacks.
Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that over 2000 suspects were arrested over the Easter Sunday attacks, search operations and mob violence which followed.
He said that 2289 people were arrested and among them are 330 Sinhalese, 139 Tamils and 1820 Muslims.
The Police spokesman said that of those arrested, 423 suspects have been remanded.
Among them, he said, are 52 Sinhalese, 13 Tamils and 358 Muslims. (Colombo Gazette)
