The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has proposed that Maithripala Sirisena be nominated as the next President and Mahinda Rajapaksa as the next Prime Minister.
SLPP Chairman Professor G.L Peiris said that SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera has called for talks on dividing positions between the two political parties.
Peiris said Jayasekera had noted that Maithripala Sirisena must be nominated as the next President and Mahinda Rajapaksa as the next Prime Minister.
However, Professor G.L Peiris questioned if now is the time to discuss portfolios.
The SLFP and the SLPP have been engaged in talks on forming an alliance at the next elections. (Colombo Gazette)
