AG to file case against Karunanayake

The Attorney General?s (AG) Department is to file a case against Minister Ravi Karunanayake for providing false information to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which was investigating the Central Bank treasury bond scam.

The Attorney General?s Department informed the Colombo Magistrate?s Court that statements will be recorded from Minister Karunanayake and his daughter in due course.

The case was postponed to July 29.

Police to inform employers to act on nearly 100 suspects

The Police is to inform employers of nearly 100 suspects arrested over the recent violence, to take disciplinary action against them. Mobs attacked Muslim owned properties in Minuwangoda and the North Western Province. At least one person was killed in the violence. Police media spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that among those arrested are suspects employed in Government and private institutions.
