Police seek complaints on doctor over illegal sterilization procedures

The Police today sought complaints against a doctor in Kurunegala over illegal sterilization procedures.

Police media spokesman Ruwan Gunsekera said that if any person wants to make a complaint against the doctor over his alleged involvement with illegal sterilization procedures then such complaints can be made at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The doctor in Kurunegala linked to some politicians was arrested last week over assets earned through suspicious means.

The 42-year-old doctor was attached to the Kurunegala Hospital.

The doctor, identified as Seigu Siyabdeen Mohammed Shafi, a resident of Kurunegala, was later handed over to the CID for further investigations. (Colombo Gazette)
