CID investigates allegations against Rishad and Hizbullah

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating allegations made against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and Eastern Province Governor A.L.A.M. Hizbullah.

Police media spokesman Ruwan Gunsekera said that two complaints had been made at the Police headquarters against Bathiudeen and Hizbullah.

Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has been accused of being involved with the bombers who carried out the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Minister however has rejected the allegations. (Colombo Gazette)

Opposition MPs stage protest in Parliament using torches

Opposition MPs staged a protest in Parliament today using torches, forcing sittings to be temporarily suspended. The opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) staged the protest to draw attention to the power cuts being enforced in the country. Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena had earlier raised concerns over unauthorised objects being brought inside Parliament.
