Kavinda resigns from PSC on Easter attacks

United National Party (UNP) member, Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena resigned from the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) appointed to look into incidents related to the Easter Sunday attacks.

A Parliament Select Committee was appointed yesterday to investigate incidents related to the Easter Sunday attacks.

The seven member committee will be headed by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri.

Others appointed to the committee were Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education Rawuff Hakeem, Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake, MP Kavinda Jayawardana, MP Ashu Marasinghe, MP Jayampathy Wickramaratne and MP M. A. Sumanthiran.

The Select Committee will comprise of 40 parliamentarians including 20 MPs from the ruling party, 13 MPs representing the main Opposition, 05 MPs from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and 02 MPs representing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).

However the United People’s Freedom Alliance and the Sri Lanka Freedom Alliance said that they will not be part of the Select Committee.
