Police deny claims NTJ doctor sterilized 4000 women

The Police have denied claims they are investigating an incident of a National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) doctor who had allegedly sterilized 4000 Sinhalese Buddhist women. Government accused of misusing emergency regulations

The Government was today accused of misusing emergency regulations enforced after the Easter Sunday attacks. The Tamil National Alliance said that the emergency regulations are being used by the military to harass Tamils in the North. TNA Parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah told Parliament today that there needs to be control on the manner the emergency regulations are enforced. He said that the Army has excessive powers under the emergency regulations and this is being misused in the North.

Sri Lanka wants adverse travel advisories revoked

The Government says its top priority at present was to engage with foreign representatives in the country and convince them to either revoke or down grade the adverse travel advisories on Sri Lanka.
