JVP hands over no-confidence motion on Government

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) handed over a no-confidence motion against the Government to Parliament today,

The no-confidence motion was handed over to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said earlier that the no-confidence motion will hold the Government directly responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Government had earlier said that information regarding the attacks had been communicated to the authorities prior to the attacks, but the information had not been acted on.

Dissanayake said that the public can decide at the next election if they have faith in this Government.

He said that Parliament can also decide if this Government must continue and the way to decide that is through a no-confidence motion.

Last week a no-confidence motion was submitted to Parliament against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

Dissanayake said that the focus must not be on individuals but on the entire Government.?(Colombo Gazette)

Three teens arrested for beating man to death in Welipenna

Three teens have been arrested for beating a man to death in the Welipenna area. The Police said that the three 16-year-old boys had assaulted the man with helmets following a heated argument last night.
