Army chief reveals Minister made “request” after suspect was arrested

Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayaka today revealed that a Minister had made a “request” from him after a suspect was arrested in Dehiwala over the Easter Sunday attacks.

Senanayaka was responding to a question raised by a journalist over media reports that Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had demanded the Army Commander to release a suspect arrested in Dehiwala.

The Army Commander said that when he was contacted by the Minister at first he did not have the information required and later he told the Minister to call him again in a few years time.

  1. There are enough evidences to arrest Rishad Bathiudeen, but the current administration has been focusing on the Rajapaksas, in order to please the foreign powers.

  2. Why did the Army Commander remained Silent all this time. Politicians in this Country are a shameless entity, but a Commander should not have listened to such a request. He should have reported this Ministers’s gesture immediately, the following available moment. Sad but true, this is why Srilanka is in this plight today.

  3. This is a deviously tried intervention. Why is he not arrested ? Don’t we have enough clues about his involvement. ?
