Police to inform employers to act on nearly 100 suspects

The Police is to inform employers of nearly 100 suspects arrested over the recent violence, to take disciplinary action against them.

Mobs attacked Muslim owned properties in Minuwangoda and the North Western Province.

At least one person was killed in the violence.

Police media spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that among those arrested are suspects employed in Government and private institutions.

He said that those institutions will be informed over the arrest of their employees.

The Police media spokesman also said that the employers will be advised to take disciplinary action against the employees arrested for engaging in violent acts. (Colombo Gazette)


  1. Employees can be interdicted or suspended only, not dismissed. First let the Courts Punish. Some people or all may be promoted and rewarded if Government Changes.
