Indian Navy submarine arrives in Colombo to replenish fuel

Indian Navy?s submarine INS Shalki, arrived on a two day visit to Colombo, Sri Lanka to replenish fuel and provisions. The submarine was received in a ceremonial manner by the Officer of the Guard of Sri Lanka Navy. The Commanding Officer is scheduled to call on the Commander of the Western Naval Area Rear Admiral WDCU Kumarasinghe at Western Naval Headquarters on 02 August 2024. Influential monk and Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple passes away

Influential Sri Lankan monk and Chief Incumbent of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple, the Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, passed away. Well known as ?Podi Hamuduruwo?, the monk was 81 years old at the time of his death. He was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo when he passed away. Several Sri Lankans who attended JVP event arrested in Kuwait

Several Sri Lankans who attended an event organised by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) have been arrested in Kuwait, Minister Manusha Nanayakkara said. The Minister of Foreign Employment and Labour said that he had been notified about the arrest of 24 Sri Lankans. He said that among those arrested were the organisers and musicians of the event.
