Amnesty declared for legal discharge of troops extended

The General Amnesty period declared for Army deserters to receive their legal discharge has been extended by the Army Headquarters by another week.

The Army media unit said that the legal discharge has been extended considering the need for more soldiers to receive their discharge.

Accordingly, Army deserters who have so far failed to report to their respective Regimental Headquarters can make use of this extension and receive their discharge before 17th May 2019 by 6.00 p.m.

Earlier, the General Amnesty period was effective from 22nd April 2019 to 10th May 2019. (Colombo Gazette)

Stay order preventing FCID from taking action on Gota extended

PM appoints committee to expedite action on fraud and corruption

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a special committee to expedite action on fraud and corruption.
