Probe on sharing unverified threat alert sent to tourism authorities

The Police say an investigation has been launched over an internal document sent to Sri Lanka tourism authorities on an unverified threat alert, being shared on social media.

Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that the information on the unverified threat had been obtained by a Police officer and that was shared with the relevant authorities.

He said the information had also been shared as an internal document at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

However a female outsourced to SLTDA had taken a photograph of the letter and published it on social media.

Gunasekera said that she has been questioned by the Police and the Criminal Investigations Department will take over the investigations. (Colombo Gazette)

Number of people infected in Fort, Slave Island, Mount Lavinia

A number of people have been found to be infected in Fort, Slave Island and Mount Lavinia. They were among individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus over a 24-hour period ending at 6am today (Thursday). Port City Economic Commission Bill passed with amendments

The Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill was passed with amendments in Parliament today. The Bill was passed with?149 parliamentarians voting in favour and 58 against it during the third reading. The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) voted against the Bill.
